Healthcare Security That Supports Your Care Team
Although Security Guard Group is a young company, our Director of Healthcare Security has an extensive background in hospital security and long-term care homes. This experience is derived directly from working for the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) for the past 15 years and has brought this experience to Security Guard Group.
Security Guard Group works with facility administrators to define guard duties, patrol areas and escalation procedures. A visible, approachable security presence helps your team manage concerns, guide visitors and control access while respecting the people who use your facility.
Visitor Management & Controlled Access
Guards apply your visiting hours, check access authorization and direct approved visitors to the appropriate reception or check-in point. Site instructions identify which areas require staff approval, how contractors and deliveries are handled, and who can resolve access questions. Requests for information about a patient’s location or condition are referred to authorized facility staff.
Calm Support During Difficult Situations
Guards use clear communication and de-escalation techniques when responding to disruptive behaviour, visitor disputes and requests for help. Site instructions identify when to involve the care team, dispatch, a supervisor or emergency services. Concerns involving vulnerable patients or residents follow your facility’s response procedures, keeping the appropriate care staff involved.
Patrols of Entrances, Common Areas & Parking
Agreed patrols can cover designated entrances, accessible corridors, waiting areas, stairwells, parking areas and the building exterior. Guards check for unsecured access points, signs of forced entry, visible damage, unusual activity and hazards that need staff attention. Where agreed, duties can include staff escorts to designated parking areas and opening or closing checks at clinics. Your plan specifies whether coverage includes on-site patrols, periodic mobile visits or both.
Support for Alarms & Site Emergencies
Guards follow your facility’s established alarm, evacuation and incident procedures. Depending on the assignment, their role may include notifying designated staff, keeping access routes clear, directing responders to the reported location and helping manage entry around an affected area. Emergency services are contacted when required, and urgent security concerns are escalated through the agreed contact process. Responsibilities are confirmed with your team before coverage begins.
Reporting That Respects Patient Privacy
Digital reports record attendance, security observations, incidents and actions taken. Guards document the information needed to explain a security event and follow the facility’s privacy instructions; photography is used only where authorized. Reports are reviewed before being shared through the client portal and email with designated recipients. Urgent concerns follow the agreed notification process so your team can act while the written record is prepared.

OUR SECURITY PROCESS
A Clear Security Plan for Your Facility
We review how your facility operates, identify the security duties your team needs and document how guards should respond and communicate. Site instructions, preparation and reviewed reports keep the service organized as access rules, schedules and priorities change.
01 Site Assessment
We review public entrances, reception points, designated patrol areas, parking access and any restricted zones included in the proposed coverage. Your team explains operating hours, visiting rules, existing access controls, privacy expectations and emergency procedures.
02 Risk Evaluation
We discuss concerns such as unauthorized entry, disruptive behaviour, staff safety, theft and after-hours access. Previous incidents and feedback from your facility help identify where a staffed post, patrols or exterior monitoring would be most useful.
03 Customized Security Plan
We agree the guard duties, coverage hours, access rules, patrol areas and escalation contacts. The plan records how security coordinates with the care team, what guards should document and how urgent concerns are communicated. Any role-specific training and screening requirements are confirmed before assignment.
04 Security Deployment
Assigned guards receive the site’s instructions and a briefing on access permissions, visitor procedures, privacy rules and emergency arrangements. Their preparation builds on training in patrol procedures, customer service, First Aid/CPR and report writing. We coordinate credentials, reporting access and the start of coverage with your facility.
05 Continuous Monitoring & Reporting
Guards document activity, report incidents and escalate urgent concerns through the agreed contacts. Reports are reviewed and shared with designated recipients through the client portal and email. We review feedback and changes to access, operating hours or site priorities with your team and agree any updates to the service.
